Among various Feldenkrais-based methods for treating children, the JKA (Jeremy Krauss Approach) focuses on special-needs children.
The Jeremy Krauss Approach (JKA) is a recent and unique understanding and perspective of early movement development and learning. Its primary focus is on helping people develop potential and abilities—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
It supports children in learning, changing, and overcoming developmental challenges through Progressive Developmental Abilities Formation.
Makiko graduated and was certified in JKA for special needs children in 2022. Combined with her experiences working with numerous clients with ASD and other developmental challenges, as well as her knowledge as a GAPS Diet practitioner, she understands both biomechanically and biochemically how the gut-brain connection impacts and influences one’s developmental process and abilities—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Most therapy focuses on a single aspect of the whole being. Makiko sees that it can limit helping children. Whole well-being encompasses many elements, including anatomical, physiological, biochemical, emotional, and spiritual. Therefore, all those aspects must be well-balanced and well-harmonized.
As many of parents understand that children are more spiritually and emotionally developed before their physical wellbeing is created enabling them to survive throughout their life.
The various developmental challenges that Makiko has worked with include ASD, ADD, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Spasticity due to accidents, childhood stroke, genetic disorders, brachial plexus injuries, scoliosis, and various undiagnosed developmental delays and difficulties, as well as many developmental disorders and challenges seen in children.
